Mary Margaret (Eck) McLaughlin, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday afternoon, June 20, 2026, at her home.
She was born on June 3, 1959, in Williamsport, one of eight children to the late Clinton Howard Eck and Geraldine Rachel (Winder) Eck. Mary attended Williamsport Area High School and graduated in 1977, and went on to work for Trimtex in the knitting department for many years. When Trimtex closed in 2013, she continued serving others by working for CRI as a caregiver until her retirement. Mary found joy in simple pleasures and treasured the moments that made life meaningful. She enjoyed drinking Dr. Pepper, going to casinos with her sisters, shopping, especially at Boscov’s, and getting out to drive around and take in the world around her. Before TGI Fridays closed, she especially enjoyed their ribs and potstickers. She also liked watching scary movies, tending to her garden, and spending time with her dog, Lyla.
Mary was the beloved wife of Charles William “Chuck” McLaughlin, Sr., and together they would have celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage this August. She was a devoted mother to Joshua Alan McLaughlin (Phylicia Tebbs), and she also embraced her role as stepmother to Charles William McLaughlin, Jr. (Deann Miller), and Steven Scott McLaughlin. Mary took great joy in being “Grammy” to Coltin McLaughlin, Liam McLaughlin, and Kayleigh Guthrie. She never missed a weekend of spending time with them and they brought an abundance of light and happiness to her life.
She is also survived by her brothers, Steven Eck and William Eck (Susan), and by her sisters, Annette Smith (Mark), Nancy Vollman (David), and Linda Losell (Charles). She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Theresa Eck and Kathy Eck, and multiple nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Michael Eck and Clinton Robert “Bob” Eck, and her sister-in-law, Brenda Eck.
Funeral services to honor Mary’s life will be held 6 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport. A viewing will be held prior from 5 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
