The bus terminal located at the corner of East Third and Mulberry Streets has been leased to the bus interests operating in and out of the city and will be opened Saturday, June 11.
The announcement was made today by Frank E. Plankenhorn, owner of the building which occupies the site of the former YWCA, and by those taking over the structure.
The terminal will be known as the Union Bus Terminal. A public demonstration is to mark the initial use of the building which has been entirely reconstructed and is recognized as one of most modern terminals in the state. Plans for this demonstration are already being made and will likely include a parade in addition to an inspection by the public.
The terminal according to the announcement will be used by approximately 10 bus lines operating out of the city for points to all parts of the United States and Canada. The new terminal will be under the same management as the old station which for some time was located on Market Street, south of Market Square which was used by buses that now stop at this station.
For about six months a force of workmen under Frank E. Plankenhorn have been working on the construction of the building, which is a modern fireproof brick structure, four stories high.
