Robert Lamar Jacobs, age 98, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
Bob was born on April 29, 1928 to the late Dalphon Urie and Mary Jane (Feese) Jacobs in Reading, PA. After graduation from Sunbury High School he married Lorraine Victoria Newbury in 1947 and they shared 56 wonderful years together prior to her death in 2003.
Bob served his country honorably as an Army paratrooper, helped to train others, and drew maps of occupied Japan among other duties. He held various jobs through the years including farmer, Montgomery Mills worker, dock worker at Branch trucking company and was a member of the Teamsters Union; after retirement he worked as a bus driver for Warrior Run High School.
Bob enjoyed music, laughter, kayaking, visiting with family and friends, helping neighbors, reading and watching westerns, and thoroughly fixing anything that was broken including many family cars. He was a faithful member of the Delaware Run Wesleyan Church for over 50 years. A few years ago he moved into Warrior Run Manor and made many friends there. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A beloved and involved patriarch of his family, he is survived by his nine children, David H. Jacobs (spouse Cynthia), Robert L. Jacobs Jr. (partner Jill Kline), Steven C. Jacobs, Kathleen A. Enterline (spouse Robert), Janet L. Adams, Michael A. Jacobs, Sharon L. Westerland (spouse Alvin), Mark J. Jacobs (spouse Doree), and James E. Jacobs (partner Janet Sharpe). Also surviving him are his 23 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way, and 4 great-great grandchildren with another due this August.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lorraine, his two brothers, Raymond Jacobs and Dalphon Urie (Jake) Jacobs Jr., his good friend Josephine Fetter, his grandson Joshua Jacobs, and grandson-in-law Mike Tichnor.
A viewing will be held from 9 to 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 6th 2026 at Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, 5570 Musser Ln, Watsontown, with a funeral service starting at 10:30 AM with Pastor Stephen Gray III, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Run Wesleyan Church in Bob’s memory.
