Williamsport Sun: April 28, 1947 – “Uninvited ‘Pie-Eyed’ Callers Sample Pie, Then ‘Sink’ Dishes”

Thieves ransacked a Grampian Boulevard home Saturday evening, got 50 cents from a book, pilfered a piece of pie and thoughtfully put the dirty dishes in the sink before departing.

The uninvited guests arrived at the home of Emerson L. Woolever, 343 Grampian Boulevard sometime after 4 p.m. but no one was home at the time.

So, without further ado, the visitors pried open the door on the first floor, pulled down all the blinds and made themselves at home.

They looked the place over. Searched the living room desk, gave the kitchen cupboard a stir, browsed through the upstairs dresser and returned to the kitchen.

There the prowlers found an apple pie and decided to have a piece.

They served themselves a generous portion, put it on a plate and in Emily Post style even used a fork. After the tasty bit they picked up the dishes, the knife and fork and neatly put them in the sink, jingled the 50 cents they got from the book and neatly strolled out the cellar window.

When Mr. and Mrs. Woolever arrived home, they discovered that they had had company. So, they notified the police. The Detective Division set today to do the rest.
