Joyce Marie Mowery, 91

Joyce Marie Mowery, 91, of State College, Pa, formerly of Lock Haven, Pa., passed away on March 23, 2026, at Mount Nittany Medical Center in State College.

Joyce was born in Shamokin, Pa to parents Joseph and Clara (Topolski) Grincavage on February 19, 1935. She went to Coal Township High School and graduated in 1952. She then went on and graduated from Beauty School with a beautician and teachers license. She worked as a hairdresser in Shamokin, Williamsport, and for many years in Lock Haven. Joyce enjoyed cooking, baking, decorating, and especially hosting family and friends. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed watching football games with her husband. Joyce was a member of St. Agnes Church in Lock Haven.

Joyce is survived by her husband, William Mowery, whom she married on January 28, 1956 in Shamokin and who affectionately called her Joy. They had just celebrated 70 years of marriage. She is also survived by her son, Keith (Marge) Mowery of Dillsburg Pa., her daughter Jan (Steve) Ripka of Boalsburg, Pa., six grandchildren, Brent (Samantha) Mowery of Camp Hill, Pa., Sara (Andrew) Hagenbuch of Yardley, Pa., Rachel Mowery of Carlisle, Pa., Brady (Tessa) Ripka of Philadelphia, Pa., Ben (Trudy) Ripka of Garnet Valley, Pa., Zach Ripka of Philadelphia, Pa., and one step grandchild, Dan (Amy) Ripka and family of North Carolina. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, a sister-in-law Joann, brother-in-law, Larry Diorio, sister-in-law, Millie Mowery, as well as many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Arlene Andrews who passed away in November with whom she talked with daily for years.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Gedon Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, LLC., 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, Pa. 17745. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m. in the Salem United Church of Christ in Coal Township. Family and friends will be received in the church at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow at the St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.
