Joan H. Lynch, 86, of South Williamsport, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, February 27, 2026 at UPMC Williamsport.
Joan was born in Hatfield, PA on May 25, 1939, a daughter of the late Albert and Alma (Rutledge) Hoehn.
She was a graduate of Damascus High School and earned an RN degree from Robert Packer School of Nursing. She started her nursing career at Divine Providence Hospital completing her employment there as Head Nurse, most notably opening and managing the hospital’s original Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Joan also worked at other local hospitals in various roles and later became the Director of Regional Home Health Services at Susquehanna Regional Home Health. Her career ended as a medical caseworker for Citi Insurance Group. Joan was a longtime member of the PA Nurses Association.
Joan was a member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, she was an avid reader who enjoyed socializing with family and friends while drinking her infamous “Gin Slushy”.
Joan and her husband of 60 years, Thomas M. Lynch were married September 18, 1965. Their final days were spent side by side at UPMC where Joan passed away with Tom holding her hand. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Lynch, her daughter, Carina Humphrey and son-in-law, Mike Sanders of Texas, her sister, Carol LaRue and her husband, Joseph of South Williamsport.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Kenneth Hoehn, and sister-in-law, Ann Moreheart preceded her in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport at 12pm Noon on Monday, March 16, 2026, burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.
