William F. Peters, Jr. (“Ted”), 88, of Muncy, passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at UPMC Williamsport following a brief illness.
Born June 1, 1937, in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late William F. Peters, Sr. and Ruth A. (Miller) Peters. Ted was a 1955 graduate of Lock Haven High School.Following graduation, Ted proudly served in the United States Navy, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. After his honorable discharge four years later, he returned to Lock Haven, where he and his first wife, Sandra Rogers Peters Linsen, whom he married in 1957, settled and raised their family. Sandra preceded him in death.
Ted was employed at Capital Industries in Avis while also operating his own construction and remodeling business. In 1969, he and his family relocated to Port St. Lucie, Florida, where he continued working in the growing construction industry with General Development Corporation.
In August of 1991, Ted married Mary Lee (Wanish) Peters, who survives. They would have celebrated 35 years of marriage this year.
A gifted musician, Ted was widely known for his talent on the saxophone, clarinet, and flute. He performed at local venues with various bands, including the Ted Peters Combo. Music eventually became his full-time passion, and he traveled throughout the country performing.
Ted was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was always available when needed. He loved working with his hands and was rarely idle, often building or fixing something. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes. He continued playing music until his health began to decline. Above all, Ted cherished time spent with his family and especially looked forward to holidays and family gatherings.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Lee Peters of Muncy; one son, Todd Peters (Glen Monson) of Dallas, Texas; stepchildren Julie Story (Kimberly Emery) and Craig Story (Nikki), both of Montoursville, Tammy Wilk (Mike) and Heather McCormick (Brian), both of Muncy; his sister, Donna Jamison of Williamsport; nephew James Jamison; niece Leslie Ohlsson; and many grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his sister, Martha P. MacNeil, and a nephew, William “Bill” Jamison.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
