Betty Ruth Motter, 88, of Lock Haven was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Born October 12, 1937 in Howard, she was a daughter of the late Harold H. and Bernice M. (Chaffee) Amick.
Betty was a 1955 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School.
On November 24, 1955, she married her best friend, William E. Motter, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage before his passing in 2011.
Throughout the years, Betty held various jobs including working at Woolrich and serving as a cook at various restaurants as well as a caretaker. She retired from Weis Markets where she worked in the deli. Her favorite job, though, was the sheep skin business she ran with her husband, Bill.
Betty was a faithful member of Beech Creek Wesleyan Church.
She enjoyed doing puzzles as well as playing card and board games.
Betty could often be found in the kitchen baking her excellent apple pie amongst other delicious treats that she gave away to her family and friends.
Over the years, she crocheted numerous afghans that she lovingly gave to many of her children and grandchildren.
Most important to Betty, though, was her family. She cherished every minute she spent with them, whether playing games with a few or gathering with many at family reunions.
Surviving are her children: Rick (Erin) Motter of Jersey Shore, Barb (Tony) Caputo of North Carolina, Phillip (Jackie) Motter of Lock Haven; a granddaughter who was more like a daughter, Sarah Motter of State College; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Motter as well as two brothers and two sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, February 16, 2026 at 7PM at Donald G. Walker Funeral Home, Inc., 231 High St., Flemington with Rev. Alan Eckenroad officiating.
Friends and family will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 5PM until the time of the service.
Memorial contributions in Betty’s name may be made to Beech Creek Wesleyan Church through the funeral home.
