Collier B. Nix, 72, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
Collier was born in Marietta, GA on May 1, 1953, the son of Falbie and Brice Bussey and raised by his adoptive parents Arnelle and Eddie Nix.
He completed his undergraduate education at University of California, Riverside and masters degree at University of Alabama at Birmingham. He went on to medical school at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and did his medical residency at Williamsport Hospital.
He was a family practice physician in Montoursville for many years, retiring in 2023. He took great interest in his patients and enjoyed taking care of multiple generations of families. He was active in the community. He was a member of Williamsport Country Club and enjoyed golfing. He was a member of Trout Unlimited and enjoyed fishing. His other interests included Alabama Football, the Pittsburgh Steelers, crossword puzzles, cooking, gardening, model trains, taking long walks, birding and spending time at their home in West Palm Beach, FL.
He and his wife, Debra J. (Stopper) Nix were married September 26, 1986. In addition to his loving wife of 39 years are their loving children; Courtney Nix (John DelVecchio) of West Chester, Dr. Weston Nix of Pittsburgh, Amy Nix of Pittsburgh, Collier Stuart Nix of Philadelphia, Alexandra “Lexi” Nix, PA-C of Williamsport and Alyssa Kawiecki (Tim) of Pittsburgh; grandchildren Ryleigh DelVecchio and Elina Kawiecki, many in-laws, nieces, nephews and many grand-dogs, including Poppi.
In addition to parents his sisters; Grace Bussey and Linda Atkinson and his in-laws, Benjamin Stopper Sr. and Joan Stopper preceded him in death as well as his dogs Talley and Lacey.
The family will receive family and friends at Crouse Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 133 E. 3rd St., Williamsport on Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
A funeral will be held at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Rd., Williamsport at 11:00am on Monday, January 19, 2026 with Rev. Shawn Simchock officiating.
Burial in Wildwood Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
