Kenneth I. Bonnell, 89, of Montoursville, died Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Valley View Nursing Center. Born December 29, 1935, in Carlisle, PA, he was the son of William F. and Helen E. (Grafius) Bonnell.
Ken married Shirley Pauline Gleockler on January 30, 1965, and shared 60 wonderful years of marriage.
Ken served his country honorably during the Korean War from 1953-1956 as a US Marine. Ken received the United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean War Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Award.
Ken and his wife Shirley P. Bonnell of Montoursville, shared a wonderful life. Ken was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed coaching little league baseball, hunting, fishing, golf, soccer, and spending time with his family. He was previously employed by Chemcoat Inc. from 1956-1984. After retiring Ken started the Group Finishing Specialist in 1984 and remained the owner operator until 1994. Ken was a member of the Williamsport Country Club, and Marine Corp League.
Ken is survived by his wife, Shirley P. Bonnell; daughter, Denise Ann Ecker, of Montoursville; sons, Wayne (Rebecca) Bonnell, of Pennsdale, Kellen K. (Diane) Bonnell, of Trout Run, Russell I. (Myral) Bonnell, of Trout Run, 8 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by sisters, Bonnie, Billie, Sandra, and by a brother Donald.
Funeral Service will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, August 21, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street Montoursville, with Pastor P. Franklin Hartzel, Jr. officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to Make a Wish Foundation.
