Terry Lynn Taylor, 66

Terry Lynn Taylor, 66, of Trout Run, a man known for his industriousness, his sense of humor, and his willingness to help others, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025, at his home in Trout Run.

Terry graduated from Liberty High School in 1977, and shortly after he began growing a business in construction, becoming owner and operator of Taylor’s Excavation Services. His dedication to his work was matched only by his commitment to his community, where he was an active and beloved member.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Terry found excitement in competing and winning many tractor pulling contests, hunting, and off-roading in his side-by-side. He was a proud member of the Winslow Hill Gang in Benezette, where he shared his passion for nature and adventure with fellow enthusiasts. His big heart and outgoing nature made him the life of any gathering, especially in his well-known garage hangout, where friends and family would often find themselves enveloped in laughter and camaraderie.

Terry’s love for target practicing with his daughter Aliya showcased the special bond they shared, and how proud he was of her military service. He also enjoyed the time spent working on projects with his nephews Ryan, Nathan, and Aaron.

He was a devoted son to his mother, LaDene (Harer) Martin, a faithful husband to his wife, Cheryl (Hess) Taylor, and a doting father to his daughter, Aliya Taylor, and a caring Pap Pap to his granddaughter Lillian McKissick. He also leaves behind a step-daughter, Emily Black (Eric DiPietro), his three sisters, Dianna Guise (Roger), AlDene Messner (Ray), and Cynthia Bower (Carl) and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Allan C. Taylor.

Those who knew Terry will remember him as a man who lived life to the fullest, with a smile on his face and strong eagerness for his work. His legacy of generosity, friendship, and laughter will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A viewing will be held 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Terry’s name to the Trout Run Volunteer Fire Company, 241 Route 14 Highway, Trout Run, PA 17771.
