Pauline S. Freas, 88

Pauline S. Freas, 88, of Williamsport, went home to be with Jesus Monday, May 5, 2025 at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.

Born March 21, 1937, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late John and Ruby (Coley) Duffield.

Pauline graduated from the Williamsport Area Community College as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and devoted her professional life to the healthcare field, working for several years at the Williamsport hospital.

A lover of game shows, she could often be found solving puzzles along with contestants, and her interest in current events made her a regular viewer of Fox News. She enjoyed gospel music and was an avid player of the card game hearts and pinochle as well as Scrabble.

Her role as an adolescent counselor for Friends of the Court showcased her dedication to guiding young lives towards positive futures. She also channeled her leadership skills into coaching girls softball.

Pauline’s legacy is one of love, care, and community and her impact on those she knew will resonate for years to come.

Pauline is survived by five children, Shirley Metzger (Richard), Ruby Gulick (William), John Freas, Shana Hill (Timothy), and Benjamen Freas, as well as Stephanie Phillips (Steve) who was like a daughter. Also seven grandchildren, Rae, Corey, Howard, Billy, Joshua, Noah, and Gabriel; five great-grandchildren, Jackson, Andrew, Audrina, Grayson, and Adelina; as well as a brother, Donald Duffield.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three children, Dawn Marie Freas and Kenneth H. Freas, as well as a child lost through miscarriage; two grandchildren, Andrew and Tricia; and two sisters, Sylvia Moon and Mary Mitchell.

In keeping with her wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
