Dorothy A. Sayman, 90

Dorothy A. Sayman, 90, of New Albany, died Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, Towanda Campus. Dorothy was the wife of Frederick V. Sayman, Jr., and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage until his passing on May 15, 2019.

Born February 5, 1935, in Monroe Township, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Fay and Ruth (Wells) Arnold. Dorothy was a graduate of New Albany High School. She was employed at GTE Sylvania as a Lab Technician for two years and was a caring and loving housewife. Dorothy was a member of The New Albany Methodist Church. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and doing things with her husband and children. She ran the family farm and took particular joy in her Guernsey milk cows. She was skilled at operating all the farm equipment and even won several trophies from plowing contests. She loved arts and crafts, especially painting and created over 200 signed paintings in her lifetime. She liked growing trees and plants, gardening, and caring for the orchard and the land. She was a 4-H leader for a number of years leading activities such as planting trees, hunter safety, annual 4-H roundups and floats for local parades.

Surviving is a son, Lloyd (Lorrie) Sayman of Hazel, KY; two daughters, Victoria Wagner of Shippensburg, and Karen (Clair) Black of Dushore; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd (Evelyn) Arnold of Monroeton; and two sisters, Barbara Waters of Bradford, Ny., and Faye (Richard) Perry of Towanda.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by a brother, Dean F. Arnold.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 4, 2025 at the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 119 Carpenter Street, Dushore, Pa., with Pastor Marty Coffey officiating. Interment will follow at Bradford County Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Dorothy’s name to The National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave, Nebraska City, NE 68410.
