Phyllis (Shropshire) Grasser, 79

Phyllis (Shropshire) Grasser, 79, of Williamsport, died Sunday, March 23, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport.

Born May 19, 1945, in Chester, PA, she was a daughter of the late Hazel (Pryor) Jacobs. Phyllis and her husband Kerry shared a wonderful life together for 58 years.

Phyllis grew up in Linwood, PA, and attended Chichester High School. She then obtained a bachelor’s degree in music education from SUNY Potsdam. Phyllis went on to become a music teacher at South Williamsport School District from 1967 until retiring in 1996. She was an avid music lover and played many instruments, including the organ, piano, clarinet, and bassoon. In her spare time, she also taught piano lessons and was a highly accomplished seamstress. Phyllis was a member of the Community Baptist Church in Montoursville and was often found attending services, as well as teaching Sunday School.

Phyllis is survived by her loving husband, Kerry Grasser, of Williamsport; a daughter, Tabitha J. (Jerrold) McCormick, of Apollo; a son, Kevin W. Grasser, of Williamsport; a granddaughter, Marta McCormick; and a grandson, Gooderham McCormick.

In addition to her mother, Phyllis was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Rodowicz; a stepfather, Steve Rodowicz; and an uncle, Bill Pryor.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 5th, at the Community Baptist Church, 1853 PA-87, Montoursville, PA. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. The service will be Webcasted at https://www.experiencecommunity.org/memorial-service/.
