Karen L. Haywood, 69, of Williamsport, loving wife, mother, Nana, and friend to many, died Thursday, March 13, 2025, at home.
Born July 19, 1955, in Altoona, PA, she was the daughter of the late William Johnson Sr. and the late Hazel (Ross) Whitfield.
On July 8, 1989, Karen married the love and rock of her life, Gerald L. Haywood of Williamsport, spending over 35 wonderful years of life together. Karen became a mom to Damean (Linda) Buxton Sr, Damone (Shannon) Buxton Sr, two daughters who preceded her in death, Kenya and Kendra Buxton, and Darien (Alisha Matthews) Buxton Sr, and extended son Jermaine Bolden.
Karen is survived in death by her siblings Chrystal (Charles) Jefferson, Terry (Sandra) Johnson, Kerry Johnson, Mark (Patti) Johnson, and Patricia Belfield, and preceded in death by William Johnson Jr.
Along with her husband, children, and siblings, Karen is also survived by her grandchildren Damean Jr, Jerrill Sr, Cheyanne, Damone Jr, Darien Jr, Aryana, Bregan, Marcus, Nolan, and her extended grandchildren Sameer and Samiya along with seven great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Family was everything to Karen whom she dedicated her life to loving and supporting. She always put the needs of others before her own, touching many lives and brightening their day with her beautiful smile. Karen enjoyed time with her Church family, spoiled her dog TT, developed a love for gardening, watching Sci Fi and traveling. She will forever be remembered and missed by so many people who loved her.
Services will be held at City Church, doors will open at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 18 located at 36 East Third Street Williamsport, PA 17701.
