Paul E. Wenner, 90, of South Williamsport passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2024 while surrounded by loving family.
Paul was born in Montoursville on July 14, 1934, a son of Harry J. and Frances A. (Hoffman) Wenner.
He was a graduate of the former St. Mary’s High School, now St. John Neumann Regional Academy. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army from September of 1953 until July of 1956. Paul retired after 20 years as a sales manager at Lycoming Beverage. During his retirement, he enjoyed his time as a crossing guard at the South Williamsport elementary school, for several years.
He was an avid sports enthusiast, loving all sports, but he especially loved cheering on his favorite teams. First and foremost was his Notre Dame football team, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies baseball team.
Paul was a family man at heart and he enjoyed his time he spent with his family and especially his many grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church where he served many years as a Eucharistic minister.
He was a lifetime member of the Gesang Verein Harmonia, the Keystone League, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 145, American Legion Post 617 and also the 40/8 club. For several years he was also a member of the Young Mens Republican Club.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth J. Keller, they were married for a loving 68 years, in addition they are survived by their children; Robert J. (Vicki) Wenner , Denise M. (Scott) Shaible, Leanne F. (Brian) Dunkleberger, Christopher A. (Julie) Wenner, J. Timothy (Chris) Wenner and Elizabeth B. (Fred) Neidig; twenty-six grandchildren, forty great grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; two sisters, Doris Bischof, Carol Eck and one brother Robert Wenner.
In addition to his parents, a daughter, Marcella L. Wenner; two sons, Michael A. Wenner and Paul E. Wenner Jr.; daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Wenner; grandson, Nathan Good and sisters, Helen Pugliese, Ruth Fischer, Ann Marie Suders all preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave, South Williamsport on March 3rd, 2025 at 11:00am. Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery with full Military honors, and there will be a reception following internment at St Lawrence Hall.
The family would like to thank the dedicated health and home care workers that helped keep Paul at home for so many years, especially the Red Lion Home Care team and Family Hospice at UPMC.
