Barbara A. (Moore) Allen, 86

Barbara A. (Moore) Allen, born on October 14, 1938, in Williamsport, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2025, at the age of 86, at Hillside Senior Living Community in Montoursville. With a life marked by grace, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community, she leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter.

Barbara dedicated much of her professional life as a clerk at the Bucks County Courthouse, where she worked until her retirement. Her work was characterized by diligence and integrity, traits that were evident in every aspect of her life.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Barbara’s passions were many and varied. She had a love for shopping, getting her hair and nails done, and listening to music, particularly the oldies and gospel tunes that brought joy to her heart. A true fashionista, she took pride in dressing elegantly and enjoyed fine dining experiences at places like the Peter Herdic House. She loved to watch sports and was a huge Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Barbara’s greatest joy, however, was her family. She went out of her way to make holidays, Thanksgiving and, especially, Christmas, memorable and special for everyone. Her beautiful smile and infectious laughter could light up any room, and her sense of humor was legendary among those who knew her. A true people person, Barbara loved deeply and would do anything for anyone in need.

Her spiritual life was rich and fulfilling, as she was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church. Her contributions to the church community were numerous, including her involvement in the Shiloh Baptist Choir, Trustee Board, YWM Club, and many committees for Church Women United. Barbara also served as President of the Let’s Do It Again Committee, worked with the Bethune Douglass Community Center Food Program, and was a valued member of the Mayflower Chapter 18, Order of Eastern Star, Inc., Prince Hall Adopted, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the V.I.P.’s and the P. D. Mitchell Scholarship Committee.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Boyd James and Velna (Johnson) Moore; her beloved daughter, Terri Lynn Allen; her brother, James Herman Moore; her sister, Jacqueline Eleanor Jett.

She is survived by her two sons, Richard A. Allen II (Heather Anthony) of Tampa, Florida, and Heron “Button” D. Allen of Washington, D.C.; her cherished grandson, Richard A. Allen III of Philadelphia, PA; her sister, Velna Leah Grimes of Williamsport, PA; her sister-in-law Mary Moore of Mesa, Arizona. God Children, Pamela Adams, Jamarr Lyles and Aleshia Robinson, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Shiloh Baptist Church, located at 433 Walnut St., Williamsport, with Pastor Raymond L. Clayton, Sr. officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend a public viewing on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
