Gerard R. Miles, Jr., 52

Gerard R. Miles, Jr., lovingly known as “G,” of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on the morning of Monday, January 6, 2025, at UPMC Williamsport Hospital following a tragic accident on Sunday evening.

Born on October 7, 1972, at Williamsport Hospital, Gerard was a 1990 graduate of Williamsport High School. He pursued his passion for the culinary arts by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Culinary Arts from Pennsylvania College of Technology. This set him on a remarkable journey of bringing joy to others through his cooking.

For 27 years, Gerard worked closely with the DiSalvo’s family, starting as a sous-chef and advancing to head chef. His unwavering dedication, culinary creativity and love for his craft made him a treasured part of the family. Gerard’s passion wasn’t just for cooking—it was for creating happiness and lasting memories only deepening his connection with his DiSalvos family.

Outside of the kitchen, Gerard was a devoted fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and was often heard enthusiastically cheering, “Go Birds!” He had a deep love for wrestling, baseball and most importantly visits from his sister, Angela. They shared a special bond and he found great joy throughout his life as they would dance and sing the night away together.

Gerard is survived by his loving family; his beloved sister, Angela Bonizio of Philadelphia, and her children, Darin Hlavaty, Felicia Hlavaty, and Salvatore Bonizio; brother, Anthony Miles of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and his children, Jack, Aidan, and Olivia Miles; stepsister, Lisa Wall; stepbrother, Jimmy Wall; stepmother, Nancy Miles Scarfo; as well as cousins, friends, and his family at the Brandon.

He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth Ann Wall, father Gerard R. Miles Sr, as well as grandparents, Dwight Chadderdon Sr., Miriam E. Reber-Chadderdon, and Lucy Miles-Turi.

Gerard leaves behind a multitude of cousins, his family at the Brandon Café, and countless friends who are devastated by his passing. He will also be remembered by his extended family-the DiSalvo’s. He considered them as much family as anyone, and cherished his time spent with them.

Gerard was taken from us far too soon and will be truly missed by many. His legacy is one of kindness, passion, and the ability to bring people together through the joy of food.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at DiSalvo’s Restaurant, 341 E. 4th St., Williamsport PA 17701, as a casual come and go gathering.

Burial will take place at the convenience of the family, next to his mother at Twin Hills Memorial Park in Muncy, Pennsylvania.
