Edmund “Ed” F. Nelson, 78

Edmund “Ed” F. Nelson, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 9, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on June 10, 1946, in Jersey Shore to the late Alford M. and Ada (Fry) Nelson, Sr.

For 45 years, Ed dedicated himself as a skilled welder at Jersey Shore Steel, contributing to the industry with both precision and pride. His work was a testament to his unwavering commitment and strong work ethic.

Outside of his professional life, Ed was a man of many passions. He loved nothing more than feeling the crisp air rush past him as he rode his snowmobile through winter landscapes. An avid fisherman and hunter, he found solace and adventure in the great outdoors, often retreating to his cherished cabin in Pine Creek. There, amidst the tranquility of nature, Ed spent countless hours fishing and hunting, enjoying the peace and quiet that only the wilderness could offer.

Ed’s love for his family was evident in his enthusiastic support of his great grandchildren. Whether it was a school play or a sports event, he was always there, cheering them on with pride and joy. His presence will be dearly missed by those who knew him best.

Along with his parents, Ed was preceded in death by two brothers, Alford M. Nelson, Jr. and Glen F. Nelson.

Ed is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Glenda J. (Beatty) Nelson; a son, Scott (Donna) Nelson; a daughter, Amy (Brad) Wall. He is also survived by two grandsons, Victor Nelson and Trevor Wall; two step-grandchildren, Ariel Heivly and Nick Klaras. Ed also has two twin great granddaughters, Alena and Annabella; and four step-great grandkids, Carter, Easton, Loretta, and Forest. Ed is also survived by his own twin, Fred Nelson of Henderson, NV and a sister, Mary Ragar of Jersey Shore; as well as two sister-in-law’s, Sylvia Nelson and Sandra Beaver.

In accordance with his wishes, services for Ed will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home, located at 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore, PA.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in Ed’s name to the Jersey Shore YMCA youth Basketball Program or St. Jude’s Research Hospital for Children. Ed’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched with his kindness, laughter, and steadfast spirit. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
