Robert W. “Bob” Kile, 86, of Hughesville, died Friday, September 6, 2024, at UPMC Williamsport. Bob married the former Jean Robbins on March 7, 1958, recently celebrating their 66th anniversary.
Born November 22, 1937, in Columbia County, he was a son of the late Oliver and Lydia (Temple) Kile. Bob was employed at Sprout Waldron for 30 years, until his retirement in 2000. He was also a rural paper carrier for the Sun Gazette for 48 years. Bob also worked and operated several area farms in Lycoming County. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Bob enjoyed woodworking and playing cards with family and friends. He could often be found having breakfast at the Country Fork in Hughesville.
Surviving in addition to his wife Jean are three daughters, Darla Andrews, of Hughesville, Joanne (James) Hecknauer, of Cogan Station, and Cathy Keeler, of Hughesville; a son, Michael (Shannon) Kile, of Muncy; four grandchildren; Carman (Christopher) Montgomery, Travis Eiswerth, Eliza and Olivia Kile; two great grandchildren, Nola (fiancée Ryan) Montgomery, and Leah Eiswerth; a brother, Oliver “Romaine” Kile, of Trout Run; and a sister, Belva Tallman, of AR.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Hecknauer; a great granddaughter, Jolisa Montgomery-Kennedy; two brothers, George and Dale Kile; and three sisters, Beverly Eichenlaub, Barbara Roupp, Pauline Eichenlaub.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 12, 2024, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St. Hughesville, Pa., with Rev. Ronald G. Montgomery officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
