Jason Michael Metzger, 54 of Plunketts Creek Township left this life at the place he loved most, his home, on August 25, 2024.
Jason was born in Williamsport on May 24, 1970, to Judith A. Metzger and R. Eldon Metzger. He was the baby brother to Curtis (Dede) Metzger of Muncy, Guy Metzger of Berkeley Springs WV, Todd (Bonnie) Metzger of Montoursville and Scott (Sherry) Metzger of Williamsport. Being one of the 5 “Metzger Boys” resulted in many fun memories and lots of mischief growing up.
Jason graduated from Montoursville High School in 1988 and went to work for Dincher and Dincher Tree Surgeons. His employment path switched to working for J A Quigel and Son Excavating where he worked for 8 years. He then began his career with HRI, starting out as a laborer and working his way up to Senior Estimator. He was recently recognized for his 25 years of service in July. Through his experiences at HRI, Jason developed a passion and talent for equipment operation and would jump at any opportunity that gave him an excuse to be running heavy equipment.
Jason was always supportive and proud of his children’s activities. He coached wrestling and served as the president of the Pop Warner Football program and the Little Warrior Wrestling program.
Jason was courageous, strong, and a fighter to the end. Anyone that knew him would agree that he was a true example of a warrior. We are fortunate and stronger for having had the opportunity to have shared his short time on Earth with him. He was an inspiration to many and will be forever missed.
Jason is survived by his parents, his wife Michelle L. (Sunderland) Metzger; his three children; McKenzie Metzger of Frederick CO, Kaden Metzger, Emerson Metzger both of Plunketts Creek Township, his brothers, and many nieces and nephews. Jason and Michelle just recently celebrated 20 years of marriage on August 8th.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 3rd, at McCarty Thomas Funeral Home, 733 Broad St Montoursville. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
Jason’s constant concern throughout his journey was leaving his youngest, Emerson, to grow up without his guidance and support. In recognition of this, the family respectfully asks that, in lieu of flowers, any monetary donations be made in her name to any Journey Bank location where an account has been established in her name.
Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at mccartythomas.com.
