Robert J. “Bob” Hoffman, 88

Robert J. “Bob” Hoffman, 88, of Hughesville, Pennsylvania passed away, Friday, August 16, 2024, at Valley View Nursing Center.

Surviving is his wife, Carole A. (Rohland) Hoffman of Hughesville. They celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on June 19, 2024.

Bob was born September 6, 1935, in Williamsport, Pa., to Irene P. (Stewart) and Frank Hoffman. Bob graduated from Williamsport High School, Class of 1953.

In July of 1954, Bob went on to proudly serve his county in the United States Navy as a Yoeman on the USS Antietam (CV36). He traveled to thirty foreign countries, until his discharge in August of 1958.

Bob worked in the vending business until he went to work for the East Lycoming School District at Ashkar Elementary School in Hughesville where he was known as “Mr. Fantastic”. He retired in 1996. Bob was an avid gardener, enjoyed bowling, golfing and a good game of tennis.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his son, Jon (Colleen) Kemp; three brothers: Carl Hoffman, Wayne Moon, and Clarence (Patricia) Moon; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

A private graveside service to honor his life will be held at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hughesville with Rev. GayAnn Gearhart officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Navy and members of the American Legion/VFW. The McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville is honored to be serving the Hoffman family.
