Troubles seem to just pile up on Theodore Doebler, 10, Williamsport R.D. 1, who was badly injured in a coasting accident Tuesday night on unprotected Packer Street hill.
Examinations at Williamsport Hospital have disclosed that Theodore had three teeth knocked out in the accident, which also produced double fractures to each of his legs when he was struck by a bobsled.
He broke his arm when he fell from a bicycle on January 10, that arm was in a cast when the coasting accident happened.
But worst of all, Doebler’s sled has been missing since the accident Tuesday night.
It was a Christmas present, one of the finest he received, and his parents, school mates, and teacher in the fifth grade at J. George Becht Elementary School, Miss Esther B. Love, would like to have the sled returned.
Students in the school donated to a fund to buy books and games for Theodore to be placed in a basket. Miss Vivian Bower, school nurse delivered the basket Friday.
One bit of welcome news given the youngster in the hospital bed this week is that he had successfully passed mid-term examinations Tuesday when he had to write with his left hand. That news cheered him Thursday.
But the missing sled is the principal topic of conversation when visitors call. If it is not found, contributions may be used to purchase another one for him it is understood.
