John “Jack” Van Houtte, 90 of Loyalsock Twp., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024 at home, while surrounded by his loving family.
Jack grew up in Bradford, PA and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 until 1955. He had a very successful career as an Executive at New Jersey Bell Telephone Company.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, the former Lyne Heffner Roche; his son, David Van Houtte of Bedminster, NJ; his daughter, Kathie Eagle and husband (David) of Middletown, NJ; his step-children, Sara Birmingham of Southampton, NY, David Roche Jr and wife (Jenna), of Doylestown, PA, Kathryn Ecker and husband (Tony) of Montoursville, PA, Rev. Alex Roche of Laflin, PA; his eight grandchildren, Elyssa Van Houtte, Drew Van Houtte, Connor Eagle, Ryan Eagle, Emma Roche, Colin Roche, Alice Ecker, Lucy Ecker; his sisters, Irene Pytcher of Ithaca, NY and Jean Davis of Plymouth, MA; and his nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews.
Jack’s first wife, Gertrude Van Houtte died in 1995, his parents and brothers-in-law, David Pytcher and Marshall Davis preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, January 20, 2024, at St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 1220 Northway Rd., Williamsport with the Rev. Alex Roche officiating. Military honors will follow the mass.
His burial at St. Joseph Cemetery in Toms River, NJ will be at the convenience of the family.
