James L. “Jim” Sechler, 77

James L. “Jim” Sechler, 77, of Montoursville, died on Monday, January 1, 2024 at his home.

Born on September 4, 1946 in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Paul and Helen Louise (Elliot) Sechler. On August 9, 1969 he married the former Bonnie Mitcheltree, who survives. Together they celebrated 54 years of marriage.

Jim was a 1965 graduate of Montoursville High School and served honorably in the United States Army Reserves. Early in life he worked for Weis Markets, Montoursville, and later retired after 35 years as Sales Manager for Tasty Baking Company.

Jim was a member of the Eureka Lodge #335 F&AM, and Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104, both of Montoursville.

He enjoyed annual croquet tournaments at his home during fall birthday celebrations, and was an avid golfer. Jim also coached little league for many years when his kids were younger.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Timothy (Shelley) Sechler, of Kensington, MD, Heidi (Mark) Boyer, of Montoursville, and Courtney (Matthew) Duitch, of Pittsburgh; four sisters, Grace (Richard) Carey, of Montoursville, Rosemary Hepburn, of Montoursville, Margaret (Mark) Lomison, of New Castle, IN, and Bonnie Lou Schuller, of FL; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Isabella, Emily and Keita Sechler, Emma (Cade) Devlin, and Garrett and Evan Boyer.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Charles Hepburn.

A Memorial Service is being planned and will be announced at a later date.

The family will provide the flowers and suggest contributions in Jim’s memory be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 369 Broad St. Montoursville, PA 17754.
