Gary L. Best, 79, of Jersey Shore, passed away Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Nippenose Valley Village.

He was married to the late Linda P. (Parker) Best from 1966 until the time of her death on January 21, 2020.

Gary was born on July 19, 1944 in Williamsport and was the son of the late Kenneth J. and Madie H. (Clark) Best. He graduated from Jersey Shore High School. Gary had worked as Regional Manager at Silco Department Stores, General Manager of Hannah International, General Manager of Ram Country Chrysler, Tiadaghton Business Service, and partner at Best Service Center. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a 55-year Mason with the Jersey Shore Lodge 232, Williamsport Consistory and Shriners and was Auditor for Porter Township. He enjoyed working and being a jack of all trades, but most of all, family was everything to him.

He is survived by one son; John D. Best (Shere) of Jersey Shore, two grandsons; Brandon and Aaron (fiancé Hannah Yorks) and one brother; Robert “Bob” Best (Connie) of McElhattan. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother; Frederick “Fred” Best and one sister; Janet Yoder.

There will be a public viewing 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home, 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore. There will be a Masonic service at 11:45 and then the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Clayton Hanley will officiate the funeral service. Burial will follow in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
