The Thomas Taber Museum at 858 West Fourth Street, Williamsport, will be filled with many beautiful flowers when the DuBoistown Garden Club holds its “Grand Slam Flower Show” there, Thursday, August 17, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Friday, August 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The show’s title, “Grand Slam Flower Show,” is a nod to the Grand Slam Parade held earlier in the week that helped to kick off the activities of the annual Little League World Series.

According to show organizers, this show is open to the public and will have Horticulture of Annuals, Perennials, Roses, Bulbs, and Herbs. There will also be Shrubs and Container flowers. There will be 10 Design groups, each having four designs with baseball themes like ‘Pop-up,’ ‘Fly Ball,’ ‘Sliding Home,’ or ‘Batter Up.’ It takes a lot of thought and creative planning to make a flower slide home. These arrangements will be placed around the exhibits on the museum’s main floor.

The DuBoistown Garden Club will be celebrating 90 years. The Club would meet in members’ homes. They have worked on many gardens and areas around the city and area. Brandon Park has many trees and flower beds planted and maintained by the Club. South Williamsport also has areas at the parks. Some of the areas around the town are or have been designated as DuBoistown Garden Club areas of plantings. Organizers hope people can come out and enjoy the hard work.
