Ruth J. (Edwards) Carson, 89, of Jersey Shore passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at Valley View Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 3, 1933 in Jersey Shore, a daughter to the late Theodore & Jenny (Jeirles) Edwards. She was a graduate of Jersey Shore High School. On May 6, 1952, Ruth married the love of her life James B. Carson and together they spent 41 years together before James’ passing in 1993. Ruth was a member of the Phelps Chapel United Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star. Ruth liked to travel, especially to Connecticut with her sisters where they liked to gamble. She enjoyed going to bingo, doing puzzles, crossword puzzles and sewing. Ruth loved spending time with her grandkids, great grandkids and her dog “Lil Boy”.

Ruth’s is survived by four sons, William (Diane) Carson, Randy (Merry Summerson) Carson, James (Diana) Carson II, John (Malissa) Carson, and a daughter Jenny Lehman all of Jersey Shore; a sister Dianne (Michael) Larson, of Montoursville; 12 grandchildren , 18 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband Ruth was preceded in death by brothers, Vernon Edwards, James Edwards, Melvin Edwards, and Carl Edwards; sisters, Inez McKean and Laura Swinehart; and a granddaughter, Kayla Brown.

There will be a public viewing Monday, March 27, 2023 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at the Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home 1002 Allegheny Street, Jersey Shore Pa 17740. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, March 28, 2023 beginning at 10:00am, also at Rearick Carpenter Funeral Home with Pastor Calvin Phillips officiating. Interment will directly follow the service in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests Donations be made to either Phelps Chapel @ 68 Phelps Chapel Road, Jersey Shore, Pa 17740, Lycoming County SPCA @ 2805 Reach Road , Williamsport, PA 17701 or UPMC Hospice @ 1100 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701.
