Alexander J. Stoddart, 77, of Third Street, Lock Haven passed away at home on August 19, 2022. He was born October 25, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Alexander Stoddart and Theresa Conlin Stoddart. Both of his parents were born in Scotland and immigrated to the US in 1923.
He moved with his family to Lock Haven in 1949 and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1963. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he spent a total of 15 years. During his time in the military, he was stationed in Georgia, Germany, Missouri, and Colorado.
In 1983 he moved to Valdez, Alaska where he found work in the fishing industry. Eventually he settled in Anchorage where he worked in the oil industry and health care. He stayed in Alaska for the next 25 years.
In 2009 he retired and returned to Lock Haven, where he would live for the remainder of his life.
He enjoyed the outdoors, was a life member of the NRA and was also an avid coin collector.
He is survived by his loving sister Marian Ryan (John), of Montoursville, nephew Ben Ryan (Grant) of NYC, niece Mary-Kate Bailey (Matt) of Spring, TX, grandnephew Jack Bailey and grandniece Nora Bailey also of Spring, TX
There will be no visitation and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
