Welcome Back!

I always consider the Little League World Series to be the unofficial end of summer. Back to school is right around the corner and the LLWS is an amazing way to finish off summer vacations.

I’m so excited to see the Little League World Series in its traditional form. It will certainly be incredible to have everyone back on the complex like usual, and welcome back the international teams. It’s been a long two+ years, and it’s so great to see some return to normalcy.

Plus, this year sees some changes to the LLWS format with the addition of four more teams to the pool.

There are also some changes to the entry/parking policy, but Lou has all those details for you on page 6.

As always, please be patient for the next little while. Yes, there will be more traffic, but I promise, you’ll get where you need to be, just give a little grace to those that aren’t from the area. I’ve mentioned this before, Williamsport is not a super easy city to navigate on the best of days, so exercise a little patience with those that are visiting our area — and be nice. If you can survive the Golden Strip near Popeye’s, you can survive sitting at the light on Market Street for an extra round. Besides, we don’t want anyone talking trash about us — we aren’t New Jersey. (Jokes, people, jokes. Don’t come for me.)

I know that I will be spending plenty of time at the Complex this year. I haven’t gotten to shoot any photos for two years, so I’m itching to get back in the photo wells. Plus, the wells —especially at Lamade Stadium — are the absolute best place to catch a game!

Having people from all over the world come to our little town is one of the best parts of living in our area. It’s incredible to see. And this year we get to welcome two new international teams, one from Panama and one from Puerto Rico.

If you head over to catch a game or two, be sure to bring some cardboard with you if you are watching from the hill. One of my favorite parts of the LLWS is watching all the kids slide down the hill.

As a member of the media, I also want to send a shout out to the Communications staff at Little League. Kevin Fountain, Brian McClintock, Chris Downs, and all the rest. They do a phenomenal job of keeping all the media organized, up to date, and help us out with whatever we need. Even if we have multiple requests, when they are trying to travel up the east coast (Sorry about that Kevin!)

Boxing in the Park

If you are looking to take a baseball-break, might I suggest heading to Elm Park for some boxing? John Powell and the team from Williamsport School of Self-Defense will be hosting a boxing event on Saturday, August 20th.

I have attended their two previous events, and I can’t say enough good things about them. I have seen some great fights and the events are always professional.

John and his crew from Vicious Promotions go above and beyond to put on a great event with a really fantastic and varied card. They will have a full slate of amateur boxing matches featuring fighters from across Pennsylvania and the northeast region. Our own local 4th Street Boxing will be out in full force. From tots to heavy-weight titans, there is sure to be a fight for everyone.

If you would like to attend, you can get tickets at the following locations:
– Williamsport School of Self Defense, 734 W. Fourth St., contact John Powell at 570-916-6812.
– Beautique & Co., 2326 W Fourth St., contact Danyelle Taylor at 570-971-1098.

Tickets are $25 for general admission and $50 for VIP. Doors open at 2:00 p.m., and first bout is at 3:00 p.m.

BigSweetz BBQ and UpTop Cuisine will both be there to keep you fed throughout the day!

This year’s card includes Mckel Cargile, Kaizahn Adjeii-Frimpong, Dominic Parker, Niquis Coleman and plenty more.

Webb Weekly is proud to be a sponsor for this event, so be sure to go check it out!

If you need more incentive, maybe some free tickets will do the job?
