Two Canadian comic book artists will be making an appearance locally at Isle of Comics in South Williamsport.
Both are making their way down the East Coast visiting conventions and will be visiting the shop for an exclusive brief store signing.
Richard Comley is the creator of “Captain Canuck” and Fadi Hakim is the editor for Lev Gleason’s Comic House (formerly Chapterhouse Publishing) who publishes the “Captain Canuck” title.
“Richard Comely worked as a sign painter, crest, embroidery and clothing designer, portrait artist and graphic designer before publishing “Captain Canuck” from Winnipeg in 1975 and “Star Rider” and “The Peace Machine” in 1981.
Richard has taught drawing since 1989. He has written and illustrated for magazines and newspapers in Canada and the U.S. He wrote and illustrated three newspaper strips as well as children’s books, greeting cards and storyboards. He helped create a one year post graduate course in comic book scripting and illustration for Mohawk College. His “Drawing from the Pros” video was a best seller in the North American educational market.
He is working with Chapterhouse publisher, Fadi Hakim and others on a number of “Captain Canuck” projects involving comic books, graphic novels, animation and licensing. Richard and his wife Evelyn, married since 1975, have 8 children and ten grandchildren.”
Comely and Hakim will be at Isle of Comics, 56 West Southern Ave., South Williamsport, on Friday July 8th, from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m.
