Although it’s been 31 years since Freddie Mercury died, his music and showmanship continue to entertain and attract new generations of fans thanks to tribute shows held around the world.

This Thursday the Community Arts Center will raise the curtain for a performance from the British Queen tribute band Killer Queen, one of the most authentic tribute bands ever to sing “Bohemian Rhapsody.” What makes this show spectacular is Patrick Myers’ ability to capture the sound and mannerisms of the late music legend.

When Myers struts across the stage in Mercury’s trademark slicked backed hair, white Wrangler Jeans and white tank top and the audience claps along in unison it’s a flashback to the 1970s.

So far Killer Queen has performed more than 800 shows around the world and entertained millions of fans.

Thursday’s show will feature Queen’s most iconic and popular songs including “Somebody to love,” “Crazy little thing called love,” “I want to break free,” and “We will rock you.”

Of course, no Queen tribute band would be complete without a high-performance rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

Queen with Freddie Mercury came together in 1971 and two years later signed its first recording contract for EMI and soon released the first album, “Queen.” The band would go on to produce more than 20 albums and become one of the most popular British bands of the 1970s and 1980s.

Killer Queen’s show at The Community Arts Center is near the end of the band’s American spring tour before they head back over the pond for a UK tour.
