Captain Louis Edward Woods, United States Marine Corps pilot, and Corporal William Bradley, passenger, arrived in Williamsport this afternoon at 12:25 o’clock, in Marine plane 6903 and landed safely at Faxon.

Captain Woods flew a modern DeHavilland type plane with a steel fuselage. The flyers left the Anacostia side of Bolling Field at Washington at 10:25 o’clock this morning, thus making the trip from the national capital to Williamsport in two hours.

In a short interview with a representative from The Sun this afternoon Captain Woods said that there was no trouble of any kind on the way and that he and his passenger flew at an altitude of between 2,000 and 2,500 feet.

The flyers came here most of the way via the Susquehanna River route, first flying over Frederick, MD, and thence to York and Harrisburg and to Faxon field. Captain Woods has never flown in this section of the country before, but he had no trouble finding his way.

After landing at Faxon, the captain left his plane at the landing field there and journeyed by motor car to the Lycoming Hotel, where this afternoon he is attending a luncheon meeting with the airport committee of the Chamber of Commerce, President Frank F. Winters of the Chamber, Secretary-Manager, William B. Milliner and others.

The purpose of the trip from Washington is in connection with the proposed establishment of an airport in Williamsport, as recommended by the airport committee in their recent reports.

Captain Woods this afternoon will look over available sites for a proposed airport and make his recommendations to the committee. If he finishes with his work early enough, he will fly back to Washington today. His tour of the city and surrounding territory will be done by automobile.
