John W. Wheeland, 89, formally of Loyalsock Township, died on January 18, 2021, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport.
He was born on October 10, 1931, in Lycoming County, the son of Harrison O. and Margaret (Mosteller) Wheeland.
John worked for Bell Telephone, was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers and Faxon Kenmar United Methodist Church and served as a trustee there, he was also a member of the Antique Automobile Club, he enjoyed working on his antique car, hunting, farming, traveling and playing with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Kathy J. Hoyt; great-granddaughter, Savannah Terry; five brothers, Carl, Dale, Bob, Merrill, and Roy; and two sisters, Saloma Dangle and Beverly Klees.
Surviving is his wife of 69 ½ years, the former Ruth J. Henry; son, Rick H. (Dianna) Wheeland, of Loyalsock Township; sister, Rita (Carl) Poust, of Hughesville; five grandchildren, Brent (Samantha) Wheeland, Jennifer (Jason) Albright, Katie (Logan) Perry, Jeffrey (Nadera) Hoyt, and Jessica (Nathan) Baier; eight great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild, and one step great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 11:30 a.m. in Montoursville Cemetery, 1401 Broad St., Montoursville, PA 17754 with Rev. Susan L. Halverstadt officiating.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faxon Kenmar United Methodist Church, 1301 Clayton Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.
