David Edward Konkle, 62

David Edward Konkle, 62

David Edward Konkle, 62, of Williamsport, died suddenly on Monday, December 14, 2020 at home.

He was born on September 6, 1958, in Williamsport. He was the son of the late Helen Bryan Konkle Edwards and Lester George Konkle.

David lived in Montoursville until fifth grade, graduated from Williamsport Area High School in 1976, and attended Wilkes University. He spent eight years in the Air Force and left with the rank of sergeant.

Surviving is a brother, Robert Lee Konkle, of Loyalsock Township, and a sister, Joan Konkle, of Williamsport. David had two beloved nieces he watched often when they were young, Roxanne Konkle and Beth Emick. He also had a great-nephew, Brody, and a great-niece, Maya.

David started each day reading the paper version of the Sun-Gazette and would look through it again later just in case he missed something. He got a smartphone in April and he loved looking things up and watching all kinds of videos on YouTube.

David died at only 62 because he weighed far too much for over 30 years. During that time, he mostly couldn’t walk around the block. He managed to experience a few wonderful years when he lost weight and received so much encouragement from people seeing him out walking. But as he was gaining strength and doing more things, he was hit hard with arthritis and neuropathy; his weight loss stopped and he was stuck inside again. He never complained but he lived his life on the sidelines, lonely and unable to do much. What a tragic waste. There were so many people he never met who could have been his friends. He truly was a hidden gem, just like his sister used to tell him.

Services will be announced at a later date.

To help defray any funeral expenses contributions may be made to Joan Konkle, 710 Jackson St., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
