Congratulations go out to Kennedy Marsh who is the District IV A Cross-Country Champion from Montgomery High School.
What a story this is.
This is the first season Kennedy has completed. She suffered serious injuries the past two years that put her out of competition. Through much work with Coach Marilouise Mazzante, she transformed her body posture to relieve the undo pressure on her ankles and feet. This transformation helped make the difference as she has been able to train and compete in an injury free environment.
She was the only cross-country runner for Montgomery and trained with Mazzante over the last five months. Getting her into meets was a struggle because, due to COVID, many leagues would only accept their league schools.
Kennedy was able to compete in three regular season meets and the PHAC invitational prior to districts. While she won two of the regular meet races, it was the competition in the PHAC invitational that opened her eyes to the district competition.
So, as the district race rolled around, goals were set.
Kennedy, has a tremendous amount of “grit!” She has fought her way back from years of struggles and wanted this opportunity to “leave it all out there!” And, that she did. Her strategy was to “take it off the line” and then settle in.
Well, there was no settling it. She ran to the front and never looked back. She anticipated some challenges at some point, but they didn’t come. She maintained a solid lead throughout and earned that District championship. A great reward for never giving up!
Congratulations Kennedy Marsh!
