Seasonal Skin Care

Fall is officially upon and us and as you start to transition your wardrobe for fall remember that your skin is going to be transitioning as well.

A great way to start a new season is with a facial! Not only will it prep your skin for the weather changes, but it’s also a great way to relax.

Here are a couple of really great masks you can do at home! So pull out those sweats, get your messy bun on and enjoy an evening of pampering and relaxation. And of course this is great opportunity to explore all 104 pages of Webb Weekly this week!

The Fancy Schmancy Mask:
What You’ll Need
• Organic lavender essential oil
• Cotton washcloth (use organic cotton when possible)
• Organic almond butter
• Skin toner (try Avalon Organics’ Lavender Hydrating Toner or Dr. Hauschka’s Facial Toner)

Choose one: honey, organic strawberry yogurt, or organic avocado
Facial How-To

Pre-cleanse. After thoroughly removing any makeup and rinsing your face, fill a sink with warm water. Add two to three drops of lavender oil and stir with your hand. Soak the washcloth in the lavender water, then wring it out and gently press it against your face and neck for 30 seconds.

Cleanse. Put one teaspoon of almond butter and a few drops of lavender water in your palm; rub your hands together to create a paste. Apply to skin using a “press and roll” method, which helps remove dead cells, dirt, and oil: Press your palms against your forehead and roll them outward. Moving down your face and neck, continue the motion until you reach your collarbones. Return to massaging your forehead, and repeat the process for one to three minutes.

Rinse and Tone. Use another washcloth soaked in lavender water to remove the almond cleansing cream from your face. Rinse with cool water and apply toner.
Apply a mask.

Choose one of the following masks, depending on your skin’s needs:
• To Moisturize Dry Skin – Half of a mashed organic avocado
• To Brighten Dull Complexions – Organic strawberry yogurt
• To Rid Pores of Impurities – Honey

Apply a thin layer to your face and relax for 20 minutes. Then remove the mask with a warm, wet cloth, and rinse with warm water. Pat dry with a clean towel.

The Easy Peasy Mask
What you will need:
• 1 cup of brown sugar
• 1/2 cup of honey
• 1 tbsp. of milk (the higher the fat percentage, the better)
How to make it:

Pour sugar into a bowl, slowly stirring in the honey, and add quantity of milk desired (the more milk the looser the consistency).

Pat mixture onto skin (avoiding eye area, it makes eyelashes sticky and the sugar is harsh on delicate skin). Leave on for 10-20 minutes (whatever you like best and have time for) this mask will not dry on your skin or become tight or hard, it will stay moist and sticky, I suggest wearing an old t-shirt while wearing this in case of any “sticky situations.”

Rinse the mixture off with lukewarm water; you may use a wash cloth or facial cleansing brush to assist you if you like, but make sure to clean extra well around your hairline or some of the honey might dry in hard sticky clumps. Eew no thank you!

After rinsing, apply moisturizer (don’t forget to put one on that has SPF if you’re going out in the sun after this facial!).
