Dennis C. Logan, 65, passed from this world surrounded by his loving family, and entered his eternal home with the Lord on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at his residence.
He bravely battled Neuroendocrine Cancer for 10 years.
Born on September 21, 1954, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Randall C. and Irma J. (Dietrich) Logan.
Surviving are his loving wife, Susan E. (calkins) Logan with whom he would have celebrated 36 years of marriage on September 29th.
Dennis was a 1972 graduate of Williamsport High School. After high school, he attended Mansfield University and graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education. He played four years of college baseball for the Mansfield Mountaineers. His love of the game of baseball continued on after college where he played baseball for the Watsontown Pirates. He umpired for many years and he fervently coached Montoursville High School basketball and baseball. He volunteered as a Little League World Series team host for 18 years and has been “Uncle Denny” to many, many little leaguers who have come from all over the world to Williamsport to play the greatest game of all. Denny loved the Little League World Series and he had passion for educating children about the game he held so dear to his heart.
Dennis taught in the Williamsport Area School District for 34 years and he was a professor at Pennsylvania College of Technology for 22 years. He impacted the life of so many children, co-workers, and friends throughout his career. He was labeled by many as being the “light of the world.” His enthusiasm, zest for life, and his powerful voice will always be remembered and missed by everyone.
After retirement, he volunteered at Shepherd of the Streets. He also continued to educate his grandsons as he was so very devoted to helping them on a daily basis with their homework and studies. He was the most loving, and devoted poppy, father, husband, son and brother. Family meant everything to him.
Denny loved the beauty of nature. He always was the first to comment on a beautiful day. He loved the changing of the leaves in the fall, the first snowfall of the winter where he would get out his cross country skis and snowshoes, the sound of the baseball hitting the mitt on the first day of spring, and the smoldering days of doubleheaders in the hot summer sun. Dennis also enjoyed reading, running, bicycling, hiking and history. He loved to travel to Washington D.C. and Gettysburg.
Dennis was a devout Christian and he loved his Savior so very much. He was an active member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. He taught Sunday School for many years and gave numerous beautiful sermons. He never missed an opportunity to show God’s love by helping a person in need. It was important to him to help the less privileged.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Andrea E. (Joseph) Burkins, Larissa R. (Richard) Bowes; a brother, Gary C. (Diana) Logan; and four grandsons whom he loved so very much, Royce D. Bowes, Maverick L. Dunkleberger, Rawson A. Bowes, and Rance R. Bowes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Throughout Dennis’s cancer battle, his smile never left his face. He never complained about any of his setbacks as he wanted to be remembered as one that lived by his faith, believing that eternal life would be his reward and hoping those who would see this would believe as well. His hope was in a valiant effort he would be remembered by, well done good and faithful servant.
A private family memorial service will be held, Monday, September 14, 2020 at 12:30 p.m., at St. Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 S. Main St., Muncy.
Friends will be received, Monday from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the church. Social gathering restrictions will be required including face masks and social distancing.
