Max A. Gatsche, Sr., 83

Max A. Gatsche, Sr., 83, of DuBoistown, died Thursday, August 20, 2020 at his son’s home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Marie E. (Nittinger) Gatsche on March 9, 2014.

Born July 10, 1937, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Walter F. Gatsche, Sr. and Florence A. (Lockard) Gatsche.

Max served his country in the United State Navy. Following his service in the military he worked at C.A. Reeds and retired from AVCO Lycoming/ Textron.

Max was an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. He enjoyed God’s creation in many ways and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Max shared his time and energy with friends and family and was a gifted handy man who helped many along the way.

Surviving are his two sons, Max A. Gatsche, Jr. (Diana), of Elizabethtown, KY and Mark A. Gatsche (Denise), of Picture Rocks; a daughter, Melinda A. Banghart (David), of Muncy; nine grandchildren; Max, Tyler, Dominic, Filomena, Justine, Brandon, Janelle, Amanda, and Kasondra; seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Sophia, Rebecca, Parker, Londyn, Brody, and Sloanne; and a sister, Anna D. Evans, of Stroudsburg.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter F. Gatsche, Jr.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 821 Central Ave. South Williamsport. A viewing will be held at the church from 9:30 to 10:15. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
