Russell From, 87, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Susque View Home, Lock Haven.
He was born February 16, 1933 in Mill Hall, the son of the late Charles H. and Sarah Longenecker From.
Russell obtained his diploma from Lock Haven High School.
In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 2nd Armored Division Field Artillery of which was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was honorable discharged with the rank of Private First Class in 1955.
Russell was married to the former Lois McDermit, who preceded him in death.
He attended Lock Haven First Church of Christ.
Russell was employed at the Mill Hall Drive-in Theatre before going to work at American Aniline and then Hammermill Paper Company until their closing.
He loved to fish, especially for trout and crappie. He also enjoyed playing cards with his friend and family.
He is survived by his sister, Bertha Strouse of Mill Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Frank McDermit; two brothers, Charles L. and Glenn E. From, who passed as an infant; and two sisters, Ruth H. Russell and Frances E. Muthler.
A private graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Lock Haven First Church of Christ or Susque-View Home to benefit their established residents’ fund.
