Jim Kerans was an incredible man. He lived well and he loved well. When he journeyed to his eternal home, there was no one in his life who was left unsure whether he loved them.
James Howard Kerans III was born in Buckhannon, West Virginia, on June 15, 1950, the son of James Howard Kerans, Jr and Lorene Kerans. He recently celebrated 48 years of marriage with the love of his life, Brenda Kerans (nee Kelly).
Known to most as (one word) ‘JimandBrenda’, they raised two children: Kelly Lyndgaard (Ben) of Hopewell Junction, NY, and James Howard Kerans IV (Corinne) of San Diego, CA.
Jim spent 43 years serving the Williamsport community as a pharmacist. He served the loving congregation of Hope Community Church as an Elder.
If you played racquetball at the YMCA he probably recently beat you (or so he said… we believe him). He was an avid fisherman and every summer for 35 years spent a week in Canada fishing with friends and family.
Even at 69, Jim was walking four miles a day on the beach during a recent vacation. His last year included hiking the mountains of Glacier National Park, fishing the lakes of Canada, celebrating Christmas with his entire family at home, and enjoying his favorite foods, sunsets, and family on the shores of Anna Maria Island, FL.
He departed a strong man, fit in both body and mind, and left this earth fully himself even after fighting an unexpected heart ailment for 10 days. Even his medical charts described him as kind.
His family misses him, but we now know we have an investment in heaven and we wait with joy until we meet again.
A memorial will be planned in the near future. The family requests handwritten letters of your memories as they cannot all be together at this time. Donations in Jim’s honor can be made to Hope Community Church Loyalsock or the nonprofit founded by his daughter, Unshattered.org.
