61st Annual West Branch

Now that spring seems to be in the air, it might be time to start thinking about those home improvement projects, both indoors and outdoors. You have the perfect opportunity and venue to get even more serious about those ideas when the 61st West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association (WBSBA) Home Show is held this weekend, March 13th to the 15th at the Lycoming College Keiper Rec Center.

They will have over 25,000 square feet of exhibits featuring more than 150 vendors this year. It’s an excellent opportunity to see all the latest trends, products, and ideas for your home improvement or building projects.

They have invited Congressman Fred Keller, State Senator Gene Yaw, State Representatives members, Garth Everett and Jeff Wheeland, Mayor Derek Slaughter, Lycoming County Commissioners Tony Mussare, Rick Mirabito and Scott Metzger, Lycoming College Vice President & CFO, Jeff Bennett, Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce President, Jason Fink, PA Builders Association President, Jon Sukonik, and Carla Fischer from the Central PA Food Bank to kick off the show with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13th.

The West Branch Susquehanna Builders Association will be donating $1,500 from the proceeds of the Home Show to the Central PA Foodbank for a “Virtual Food Drive.” The check will be presented to the Central PA Foodbank at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The Home Show will open to the public at 3 p.m.

Over the past 60 years, the West Branch Susquehanna Builders Home Show has grown to become one of the area’s most highly anticipated events for both businesses and consumers alike. Its success has tagged it as one of the most successful home shows in the region. Exhibitors come from all over Central Pennsylvania and the Northern Tier, even as far away as Harrisburg and Altoona.

Vendors can showcase their business services and products to thousands of local homeowners. Attendees will find a wealth of information, products, services, and creative ideas all in one place, drawing inspiration and opportunities from unexpected places. This year the Association expects to host over 150 exhibitors, all of whom are ready to answer your questions and help bring life to your ideas.

Admission is $5 for adults. Children 17 and under are admitted free. They will not be collecting canned goods this year, but instead, they have increased their donation to the Food Bank for a “Virtual Food Drive.” They will be presenting a check for $1,500 to the Central PA Foodbank at the opening ceremony. By doing this, they can help feed many more people. The Food Bank, through its purchasing power, can purchase six times as much food per $1 in canned good donations when they provide a monetary donation.

Attendees can talk with experts and see the newest innovations and products available in the industry in order to complete potential home improvement projects.

The Show will feature exhibitors from all sectors of the building and home improvement industry including:

Custom, Log & Manufactured Home Builders
Design Services
Ponds and Waterscapes
Remodelers

Home Show organizers wish to thank their many volunteers that help make their event a success. They have students from the Williamsport Area High School – Construction Trades Program and the members of the Penn College Construction Association that help them layout the booths and volunteer throughout the show to help make it a success for all their vendors and attendees.

In addition to the students, many members of the WBSBA will put in countless hours and thousands of steps to help bring this show to their community. The entire event is put on with only one paid staff member. They couldn’t do it without their volunteers.

Again, this year they are offering their “Ask The Expert” seminars to Home Show attendees.

Join them on Saturday for any of their three different seminars. Woodlands Bank will present a seminar on planning and financing for new construction and remodeling projects. Mountainside Custom Homes will offer advice to homeowners on what to expect during the process of building a home. And the Keystone Council of Governments will do a seminar on the ins and outs of permitting and codes for homeowners considering a remodel or home build. Flyers with additional details will be available at the Home Show.

They continue to make changes that they think will improve the Home Show experience.

Each year they have an exhibit by a local artisan. This year Lyco Live Edge will be displaying their unique works in the Rec Center Lobby.

New this year, they will have Lowe’s doing a Build & Grow DIY Kids Workshop on Sunday, March 15th from Noon – 2 p.m. As with the Ask The Expert Seminars, this event is free to paid attendees. Organizers believe you will find something for everyone at the show this year.

There will also be three (3) grand prizes of $1,000 each, awarded to one lucky attendee at the end of each evening of the Show. The winners will receive $1,000 gift certificates for goods or services from the exhibitor of their choice. Attendees will also be able to purchase tickets for their popular Gun Raffle at booth 201 on the second floor. (Three for $20 or one for $10.) Sunday, they will draw ten lucky gun raffle ticket winners. Winners of all prizes will be notified by phone.

Chef Hosch will be providing delicious food again this year. Please visit the concession area, located on the second floor, or the food truck out front, to enjoy delicious refreshments, soups, sandwiches, desserts, and more. Fresh, hot coffee will be served free all weekend; organizers thank their Bronze – Coffee Sponsor, Woodlands Bank.
