Patricia A. “Pat” Gross, 80

Patricia A. “Pat” Gross, 80, of Williamsport, died Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Leighton Place. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, John F. Gross Jr.
Born April 12, 1939, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Paul H. and Wilda L. (Haug) Miller.

Pat was a 1957 graduate of Williamsport High School. She and her husband, John, were owners and operators of Gross Gulf Service, and J&P Plaza on Lycoming Creek Road, then turned the business over to their son in 1999. Pat was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1954, where she was very active as a Sunday school teacher, lay leader, lay speaker and Bible studies.

She served as Old Lycoming Township supervisor from 1988 to 1994, where she was the first female supervisor. Pat also served on the planning commission from 1994 to 2001, was the tax assessor from 1995 to 1999, served on the recreation committee where she dressed up as the Easter Bunny, was a chairman of the board for six years and was a safety chairman. She helped facilitate the recycling program for Old Lycoming Township as well. In 2002, Pat received a certificate of recognition from Old Lycoming Township for her many years of service.

Pat and John purchased the first Snuffy outfit for the fire company, and Pat wore it at different special events. She volunteered at the cancer treatment center and breast health center for 12 years. Pat was a bowler for more than 30 years, and enjoyed Crosscutters baseball, sewing and crocheting.

Surviving are her three sons, Keith A., Kevin L., and Kerry W. Gross, all of Williamsport; a daughter-in-law, Samantha Gross; and three grandchildren, Jessica Mae Gross, of Las Vegas Nev., and Madalyn P. and Lucas A. Gross, both of Williamsport.

A funeral service to honor the life of Pat will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1971 Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Knight-Confer Funeral Home, 1914 Memorial Ave., Williamsport, and 10 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday, March 5, at Trinity United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Pat’s name may be made to Susquehanna Health Foundation, c/o UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Williamsport, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
