Shirley M. Vandegrift, who was born November 24, 1927 to the late Mary Elizabeth Gage and Lawrence “Chalky” Miller in Williamsport, died peacefully January 7, 2020, in Nazareth , PA.
She was preceded in death by her high school sweetheart & husband, Robert G. Vandegrift, her beloved son, Larry Vandegrift, and her very close brother, Lawrence “Bud” Miller.
Surviving are her children, Robert G. Vandegrift and wife, Sarah, of Georgetown, KY, Craig Vandegrift and wife, Michele, of Middletown, MD, Keith Vandegrift and wife, Pam, of Galena, MD and beloved daughter, Denise Moore and husband, Ed of Easton, PA; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved, cherished and encouraged her family throughout her life. She enjoyed knitting, playing card games, dancing or sitting by the pool with many friends. Shirley’s smile would light up any room.
A private family memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, January 12, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad Street, Montoursville, with Rev. Richard M. Barner officiating. A graveside committal service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, January 13, in Twin Hills Memorial Park.
