Shirley I. Adams, 84

Shirley I. Adams, 84, of Cogan Station, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at The Williamsport Home surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years Kenneth H. Adams on May 25, 2013.

Born April 9, 1935, in Upper Fairfield township, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Stella (Springman) McCoy.

Shirley was a very active life member of Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and attending their activities. Shirley loved taking care of her family and enjoyed family get togethers, where there was lots of laughter, especially at Christmas. She enjoyed flower gardening, walking, had the biggest heart, and a smile no one will forget.

Surviving are a daughter, Elaine Buffington (Keith “Butch”) of Cogan Station; two sons, Kenneth S. Adams (Kim) and Michael L. Adams (Wendy), both of Cogan Station; five grandchildren, Heather Vogt (Jeff) of Williamsport, Matthew Buffington (Becca) of Reading, Blake Adams, McKenna Goss (Michael) and Evan Adams, all of Cogan Station; four great-grandchildren, Aidan, Alivia and Ashton Vogt, and Dylan Buffington; a brother, Gary McCoy (Debbie) of Watsontown; and two sisters, Ruby Fisher (Jack) of Montoursville, and Darlene Holdren (Jim) of Danville.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melissa Buffington, and two brothers, Albert and Carl McCoy.

A funeral service to honor the life of Shirley will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 19 at Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church, 656 West Creek Road, Cogan Station, with the Rev. Jerry D. Fourroux, Jr. officiating. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church.

Burial will be held privately in St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, Muncy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Shirley’s name may be made to the Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church, P.O Box 310, Cogan Station, PA 17728.
