Mary Jane Bennett, 91, of Montoursville, died December 16, 2019, at Valley View Nursing Center.
She was born July 22, 1928, in Williamsport, a daughter of the late James E. and Agnes (Hetter) Shimp.
Mary Jane was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School, was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, had worked at the former Carey-McFall and also Reinvelt, and enjoyed her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Bennett; brother, James Shimp; and three sisters, Marnie Shimp, Madeline Kost, and Emily Hartland.
Surviving are three sons, Williams J. Reynolds, of California, David S. Bennett, of Montoursville, and Mark W. (Wendy) Bennett, of South Williamsport; a daughter, Jane L. Anderson, of Montoursville; a brother, Paul (Vickie) Shimp, of Tempe, Arizona; five grandchildren, Albert R. DiMassimo, Lynn Rakestraw, Lori A. DiMassimo, Sarah Bennett, and Mary Bennett; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, December 20, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, with Rev. Michael S. McCormick as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
