Ann Marie (Adams) Smith, 87

Ann Marie (Adams) Smith, 87, of Jupiter, Florida, passed away Wednesday May 8, 2019, at her home.

Born Aug. 1, 1931, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Pauline (Clark) Adams. Ann lived on Newberry Street and was raised there until she married. In 1960 she moved to West Palm Beach, Florida with her husband, Thomas Joseph Smith, and lived in South Florida the remaining years of her life.

Ann was a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution, as were her mother and all of the women in her family. Ann was a caring, devoted mother and protected her children with passion. She sang in the church choir her entire life with her lovely soprano voice, which is now singing praises with the angels to our Lord and Savior. In addition, during the Christmas season she would sing for The Singing Christmas Tree, a program First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach performed every Christmas for years.

Ann loved nature and plants and joined The Garden Club, quickly moving up to the appointment of president, which was to be expected for she was a leader and was often promoted to being in charge of any organization she was involved with. She was a fern expert, raising many blue ribbon winning ferns and teaching others about gardening and the care of nature. She loved all creatures big and small on this beautiful Earth and would generously help anyone or any creature in need; a gift she imparted to all of her children. She had many friends and was a great hostess, always serving meals and luncheons for family and friends. She was an excellent cook and at one time she and Tom considered opening a restaurant, and it would have been successful on her delicious meals alone.

She is survived by her five children, Van R. Schneider (Adriane), Georgeanna Schneider, Drew D. Schneider (Dawn), Mitchell T. Smith (Heather Sigwart) and Joel C. Smith; and granddaughter Allison Miller (Hayden).

A graveside service to honor the life of Ann will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, in Salladasburg Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Knight-Confer Funeral Home.
