Robert L. Warburton, 94, of Hughesville, died Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Muncy, surrounded by his family.
Born February 19, 1925 in Hughesville, he was a son of the late Harry B. and Ada L. (Boyer) Warburton. His wife of 60 years, the former Dorothy C. Rogers, preceded him in death on November 25, 2007.
Bob served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WW II. From April, 1943 to August, 1946, he was stationed aboard the USS Chikaskia in the South Pacific. After returning home from the war, Bob would eventually take over his father’s business, H. B. Warburton’s Plumbing and Heating. For over 50 years he continued to carry on his father’s legacy.
An outdoor enthusiast, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and bird watching. Family was very important to him, as he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed traveling and attending the annual military reunions. Bob was a member of the former Bethany United Methodist Church, Hughesville, the American Legion Post 35, Hughesville, and the Muncy Valley Moose.
Surviving are a brother, Harry (Janet) Warburton of Raleigh, NC; three grandchildren, Brooke L. (Brian) Anstadt of Hughesville, Adam R. Warburton of Hughesville, and Rachael M. Warburton of Hughesville; three great-grandchildren, Allison R. Anstadt, Connor J. Anstadt, and Ella M. Anstadt; and a special great-niece, Rhonda L. Reese of Hughesville.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robert B. Warburton; and two sisters, Helen W. Corson, and Betty Lockard.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, April 15, in the chapel at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville, with Rev. Max L. Walters Jr. officiating. Graveside military honors will be accorded by combined veteran’s organizations.
The family will provide the flowers and suggest memorial contributions to the American Legion Post 35, 78 N. Main St., Hughesville, PA 17737.
