Barbara Ann Henthorn, 84, Hughesville, died Monday, February 4, 2019 at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville.

Born December 20, 1934 in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Isabelle Johnson. She and her husband, Karl H. Henthorn, celebrated 62 years of marriage on June 16, 2018.

Barbara was a graduate of Lewisburg High School, Class of 1952, and received her Bachler’s Degree from E.S.U. in 1956. She began her teaching career at Verona High School in 1957, and retired in 1988 from East Hanover Middle after having taught there for 12 years. Barbara was a member of Whippany First Presbyterian Church and enjoyed knitting, crafts, breeding and showing her Golden Retrievers, and volunteering. She loved her students and was a mentor to many. She also loved being a grandmother to her grandchildren and spent a lot of time with them when they were growing up. Barbara was a friend to many and she will be greatly missed.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a daughter, Kristie Zweig of Apex, NC; a son, Andrew Henthorn of Branchburg, NJ; a brother, Jim Johnson of Clarksville, GA; and three grandchildren, Kyle of NC, and Mitchel and Sarah of NJ.

The family will hold a memorial service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at Valley View Nursing Center, 2140 Warrensville, Rd., Montoursville, with Pastor Wayne F. Brauning officiating.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
