Anthony L. DiSalvo, 89, of Williamsport, passed away on Feb. 4, 2019, at The Gatehouse, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
He was born in Williamsport, on April 8, 1929, a son of Antonio and Vincenza (Rampulla) DiSalvo.
Anthony was a 1950 graduate of Williamsport High School and a member of the Lycoming College class of 1954. He also received his certificate as a professional engineer from Penn State University.
He retired as a plant engineer from Textron Lycoming after 43 years with the company.
Anthony was a member of the former Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, now St. Joseph the Worker Parish. He was also very involved for 75 years with the Boy Scouts of America. He spearheaded the drive for the flag at Penn College, started the first Flag Day flag march in the Williamsport area and was involved with the Lycoming County Chapter of the American Cancer Society. It can’t be overstated his value to the community, the lives of the people he touched and the lives he changed through the many organizations he served.
He and his wife, the former Kathleen E. Sartori, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on Nov. 28, 2018. In addition, he is survived by two sons, Tim DiSalvo (John Heilman), of New York, and Anthony L. DiSalvo III (Karen), of Williamsport; a daughter, Erin Martin (Dr. Scott Martin), of Williamsport; grandchildren, Chelsea Keenan (Jude), of Philadelphia; Alexa Giovanna Martin, of New York; Whitney Vincenza Martin, of Williamsport; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Stapp and Andrew Stapp; sister, Marguerite Wollet (Judge Robert Wollet, deceased); sister-in-law, Mariannina DiSalvo (Dr. Vincent I. DiSalvo, deceased); and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends at Crouse Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, on Thursday, Feb. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with his pastor, Rev. Brian Van Fossen officiating, followed by burial at Wildwood Cemetery.
